A hormone that makes food more attractive has been discovered.

Hormone, which can make people to eat more, as makes food more attractive, said in an article published in the journal Cell Metabolism.
The authors of the article conducted an experiment in a group of volunteers who made the injection of hormone ghrelin. The test showed images of objects and food, controlling the activity of several brain areas, so-called pleasure centers. As a result, it became clear that the reaction after the injection of the brain to images of food was stronger than without it.
“When you go to the supermarket hungry, any food you think is better. Your brain sets the price and benefits of each product. Now we’ve found that ghrelin acts on the brain so that food is becoming more attractive,” - said one of the authors Alain Dagher from Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University.
The ghrelin level increases before eating, causing a feeling of hunger, and decreasing after it. Dagher notes that in the experiment have taken part thick and thin people, those who receive ghrelin, ate significantly more than those who received placebo.
The researcher noted that this hormone may be linked, in particular, obesity and diseases caused by them. It was found that ghrelin operates on a number of zones of the brain associated with pleasure and motivation, which, in turn, are involved in the process of drug dependence.
This gives reason to think that fat food can create high-dependency.
The hormone is not confined to one or two zones of the brain, it acts on the whole network of neurons. In particular, ghrelin operates on a memory, as people remember pictures containing food better with a high content of ghrelin.
