Just completed study has shown a link between heart attack at night and apnea syndrome in a dream.
In this condition in humans, there is spontaneous stop breathing during sleep every few minutes. The link can not be installed until the end, however, it logically follows from the results of the study, said the author of the study, Dr. Virend Somers, cardiologist from Meyo Clinics.
Most heart attacks occur in the period between 6 a.m. and noon, said Somers. Therefore attack, falling at night, when the heart muscle is in a state of the greatest calm, meant that the body of a “failure”. Somers and his colleagues studied the most common forms of apnea syndrome in a dream - the so-called Obstructive apnea, during which aeriferous path periodically decreases, causing a temporary stoppage of breathing. A dozen years ago, were shown that obstructive apnea - a powerful stimulant sympathetic nervous system, that is, it happens during a massive release of adrenaline, increased blood pressure and raises the relative shortage of oxygen.
92 patients who watched Sommers and his colleagues, have experienced a heart attack during the night, and most of them had previously undiagnosed apnea syndrome in a dream. However, the study was made like nature review, so to speak of a strict connection is premature, scientists believe. These data are certainly of importance, should be verified in larger, controlled studies.
